Crystal healing is one of the most popular alternative therapies. In fact, crystals are believed to hold healing properties and are often used to cure ailments or protect against disease.
In crystal healing, different stones are associated with different healing properties, but also with chakras and colors.
Each crystal has a particular vibration and frequency that can channel your energy levels. Depending on how you work with your gemstones, they can interact with your vibrations and energies, therefore affecting your mood, mind, or health.
Crystal healing can be considered an act of self-care. Crystals essentially remind us to prioritize our own needs and focus on nurturing ourselves.
How long do crystals take to work?
It takes time and consistency before you can see the results of your work with crystals. Use them as a daily reminder of your intentions, to focus on positive things, and in time, you’ll see results. Crystals won’t change your life, but they can definitely help you improve it.
How to use crystals for a better life
Crystals can accomplish beautiful things once you know how to use them. Below, you’ll find a list of 13 different ways you can use crystals in your everyday routine to improve your life.
1. Carry them in your purse or pocket
Carrying your crystals in your purse or pocket is one of the best ways to use them. This way you are always in contact with your crystal and aware of its energy. It’s also the easiest way to work with your gemstone. If you’re a total beginner, I’d recommend trying that to get used to the energy of your different crystals.
If you’re attending a job interview, going on a date, or just having a bad day, you can grab your small stone from your purse or pocket and feel that reassuring contact. Some women like to keep their crystals real close and wear them in their bra! Do whatever works for you.
2. Put them under your pillow
We spend at least 8 hours a day lying in bed, so we might as well be absorbing some good vibes while sleeping. You can place your favorite stone under your pillow or on your bedside table to calm your nighttime anxiety or simply help you sleep better.
Keeping crystals near you at night can bring you comfort. If you don’t want to keep your crystal under your pillow, you can just place it near you.
Some stones like Lepidolite, also help ward off bad dreams. You could also use calming crystals like Amethyst or Black Tourmaline to promote restful sleep.
3. Make crystal water
Well, this is something I’ve never tried but I thought I’d had it to the list for those who are interested. You can actually make crystal infused water. It’s like a crystal elixir.
This is something that’s easy to do and it’s an amazing way to connect with the energy of your crystals. To make a crystal elixir, you need to cleanse your crystal first. Then, add it to spring water and let it infuse the water with its energy. After that, you can drink it!
Before you make crystal infused water, make sure yo check what stones are non-toxic and safe to submerge in water. Some crystals contain elements and chemicals that shouldn’t be ingested, and others will degrade in water. Meditation is one of the simplest ways to connect with your crystals. If you’re new to meditation, you can still do a simple ritual with your favorite stones.
Hold your crystal in one hand and close your eyes to focus on your breath. Do this for a few minutes. You should feel a sense of grounding. Some people don’t feel anything, and it’s okay. You can just practice and experiment until you find what works for you.
Sometimes I just sit with one of my crystals in my hands, focus on my breath, and simply set an intention.
6. Make a crystal grid
Do you have a lot of crystals? Then, you can make crystal grids. Arranging crystals into a sacred geometrical grid can help usher their healing powers.
You can find crystal grid ideas on Pinterest, or buy grid cloths to help you. It’s really up to you, but for your first try, I’d recommend letting your creativity speak! Arrange your crystals how you want as long as its in sacred geometry.
Putting crystals together on a grid helps amplify their energy and allows them to work together. Before you make your grid, don’t forget to set an intention for your ritual. And choose stones that work with this energy.
You can also add natural objects to your grid such as shells, flowers, or leaves. Once your grid is created, let it work its magic!
7. Wear your crystals
If you have a lot of small stones, you can easily turn them into beautiful pieces of jewelry. Wearing your crystals is one of the best ways to be connected to your stone throughout the day.

8. Program them with intention
Programming your crystal with intention is one of the easiest things to do. To do this, hold your crystal in your hands and close your eyes. Take three deep breaths and say your intention out loud. You can say it several times to emphasize your intention.
Before you set an intention with your crystal, don’t forget to cleanse it. That way, it’ll be clean from negative vibes and ready to absorb new energy.
9. Sprinkle your stones throughout your space
Don’t want to do anything fancy with your crystals? You can just sprinkle them throughout your space. Large crystals actually make beautiful items of decoration. And they have the advantage to clean your space’s energy.
If you don’t want to buy large crystals, you can buy small clusters or points to simply bring a sense of ease into your home. I like to keep my crystals in my living room, bedroom, and in my office to help me focus when I’m working.
10. Include them in your self-care routine
There are many ways you can include crystals in your self-care routine. There’s no better way to enjoy their properties.
You can take a hot bath and place crystals around your bathtub for example. Also, you could use some crystal candles to bring even more magic to your space. And don’t forget to add some Himalayan salt into your bath. You’ll feel completely relaxed!
11. Do a healing ritual
If you want some deep healing, a crystal ritual might be just what you need. With this simple ritual, you can heal yourself emotionally, be more forgiving, or let go of negative thoughts.
Stones that are great for transformation and growth, such as Malachite, Moss Agate, or Chrysocolla, are perfect for healing rituals.
To perform a healing ritual, simply hold your crystal over your heart for a few minutes. You can feel its energy connecting to yours and think about what you want to let go of.
12. Place them on your body
Putting crystals on your body is a fantastic way to heal your chakras. If you want to do that, simply pick a stone that corresponds to the chakra you wish to heal. Place it on the part of your body where you chakra lives.
You can place several crystals at a time on your body. This will only enhance the process and help you enter a deeper state of meditation.
The best crystals for each chakra are as follow: Amethyst (Crown chakra), Carnelian (Sacral chakra), Smoky Quartz (Root chakra), Citrine (Solar Plexus), Rose quartz (Heart chakra), Sodalite (Throat chakra), and Lapis Lazuli (Third Eye).
13. Add crystals to your altar
Do you have an altar? If you do, you can add your crystals there to help magnify your intentions. Crystals shaped like wands, spheres, or clusters are really perfect for at-home altars.
You can also place a small piece of paper with your intention under one of your crystals. I always keep Pyrite on my business card in my altar to force abundance and prosperity.
